Exclamation HELP - my animal cake looks like road kill

Hello

i have a question and need some advice - i made a cake for my boyfriends birthday a last year of a sloth (his favourite animal) it looked ok - but a little bit road kill as it was really flat - so my question is how do you make a cake dome or half sphere ??

attached are some pick of it - so you can see what i mean - it was made of a combo of angel cake and chocolate sponge

Unfortunately the images aren't showing... could you tell us more about the cake you made? What cake pan... is it available online? What recipe did you use... was it recommended by the cake pan/mold manufacturer? My first guess is that the cake was probably just too light, and couldn't hold up to the stress.

Here's a tutorial on baking a half-sphere cake, but unfortunately they don't include a recipe. This page suggests you need a sturdier cake, such as a pound cake. After seeing your image, though, it looks to me like pretty much all of the cakes you used to assemble the sloth look a little on the flat side. And you were using two different recipes, right? (Or were they boxed cake mixes?) If you were baking from scratch, it could be that your baking powder is getting old. If they were mixes, maybe they were old, or you weren't filling the pans high enough, or your oven isn't heating properly.
Are you planning to bake again soon? I hope we can help you figure this out!

Thanks!!

All of the sponges were made by me ... My own recipe ... Im thinking I maybe needed to layer it and may put a hemisphere shape on the face to make it more 3d... The sponges were slightly flatter then usal...

My next cake will be a lgraduation frog which is standing so I will need to figure out the flat thing or here we come road kill frog !!!!
