‘Bake with Your Kids Day’

March sure is an exciting time—what other month gets dubbed March Madness?! It’s also Women’s History Month… Plus, March 20th is the beginning of spring. Oh, let’s not forget St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th). And March 26th just happens to be ‘Make Your Own Holiday Day’! What’s that, you ask? Well, it seems to be a day that you can make special for anything your heart desires… We’ve got a suggestion: ‘Bake With Your Kids’ Day!

Get into the spirit of the month by baking some delicious cupcakes with the kiddies! The video below will take you through a simple process that’s perfect for introducing your children to baking. You can get them involved in the specifics: divvying up the ingredients, measuring, and mixing…and you can let them get creative!

Help the kids put some personal touches on their cupcakes (do they want to add chocolate chips?)—or pick a timely theme: dye the batter green for St. Patrick’s Day, for example, or orange like an NCAA® basketball! You can make “surprise” cupcakes by adding a dollop of jelly or peanut butter in the center (watch the video for the exact process). And, of course, you can have fun with the frosting and decorating: let the kids create flowers out of frosting atop the cupcakes in celebration of spring (or pick up some sugar flowers)—plus, they can try a shamrock or that orange b-ball…The cupcake is their oyster!
