Default pricing cakes

more and more people are asking me to make them cakes, im having a hard time deciding what to charge.
i was just wondering how much everyone else charges for cakes and cupcakes?
im afraid of overcharging

Basically you should:

1. Figure out your ingredient costs per item
2. Add your equipment costs and overhead
3. Multiply by three or four

(more details here)

Do not be afraid of charging what your labor is worth. If you undercharged you might have a run of customers, but you'd overwork yourself and still not be able to make ends meet. And you don't want your customers to get used to rock-bottom prices; they won't stick around when you need to raise them to something reasonable.

Couldn't agree more on what Princess Cupcake has said, you need to start knowing your costs related to the cakes first of all. Factoring in your time is also often overlooked

Always take a price that makes you able to pay your bills. Sounds strange, but is true. So, the cake price depends on the area your biz is located in, how high your rent is and how many employees you gotta pay.

you can offer them charges as per your cost of investment and also revenue wants to generate from it.
